Current Exhibition
New Direction in Ceramics
Tam Irving
August 26 to September 18, 2021 – Opening Reception August 28, 2 to 4 pm
The current work, over the last five years, represents the development of ideas seeded from “The Space in Between” exhibition curated by Carol Mayer in 2016.
My focus has shifted primarily toward two dimensions, minimalist influence, and geometry which engages the mind in the serenity of order.
The exhibit also houses further experimentation with sculptural forms, and a complete, perhaps final, departure from the wheel. The six sculptural pieces all reference the geometric explorations of the wall plaques.
In striving for fresh expression of earlier ideas, I acknowledge influence from Hilma Af Klint, Ellsworth Kelly, Kenneth Noland, Joseph Albers, and Gerhard Richter.
